Congratulations to Poplarville, Mississippi on becoming Excel By 5's 20th Certified Early Childhood Community. The Poplarville, Mississippi Excel By 5 Coalition, in partnership with the Poplarville Women's Club, Pearl River Community College, local child care providers, Head Start center, community businesses and city leaders have worked to meet the requirements to achieve certification. Excel By 5 staff recently conducted a final review, and it is my pleasure to announce that Poplarville, Mississippi is a "Certified Early Childhood Community."

Congratulations to Mid-Jackson on recertification as an Excel By 5 Certified Early Childhood Community.
After becoming a certified early childhhood community in 2009 and then re-certified in 2012, Mid-Jackson has continued their efforts and recently completed the recertification requirements. The Mid-Jackson Excel By 5 Coalition continues to serve their community in support of young children ages 0-5. Through a strong partnership with Mid-Town Partners and other organizations, Mid-Jackson continues to make great progress to growth their efforts to support of their youngest citizens to ensure they are happy healthy and eager to learn.

Welcome to Wayne County & Ocean Springs, MS
It is with great pleasure that we welcome Wayne County and Ocean Springs, Mississippi into the Excel By 5 family of communities who are making a difference for Mississippi’s youngest citizens.
Wayne County, MS - Please join us in welcoming Wayne County into the family of Excel By 5 communities. With the initial contact from MS Power District Manager, Annie McMillian, interested parties came together to consider Excel By 5. After meeting and organizing, Sean Dunlap with the Wayne County Economic Development District, representatives from the County School District and others have teamed together to work on becoming a certified Early Childhood Community. Amanda Cooley, with the Wayne County School District will serve as Certification Manager.
Ocean Spring, MS - Also please join us in welcoming Ocean Spring, MS. After meeting with Superintendent, Dr. Bonita Coleman Potter and Assistant Superintendent Dr. Christopher Williams Sr., several informational meetings were held including a presentation to the Ocean Spring School Board. Other organizations were engaged and Ocean Springs is ready to begin the journey to become certified. Teresa Callahan and Alyson Creel will serve as certification managers.
