On Saturday, July 30, 2011, Monroe County children and their families enjoyed a “Treasure Hunt” to help them prepare to go to Kindergarten; as well as fun, games, food and more!

It took money, time and a lot of hard work but Monroe county leaders hope it all pays off for children in that area. The county is now Certified as an 'Excel By 5" Early childhood community. The effort will help ensure all children get a head start on school.

After a three-year process, Monroe has become the first entire county in the state to be certified as an Excel By 5 Early Childhood Community.
